Resizing of Ring

Due to my stupid mistake.....

My engagement ring didn't fit when it was first presented to me. The first few things I had to do was to check the cost for sending the ring back to US. It's a super ley cheh process because I have to send it back throughFedEx, buy the insurance so that my ring will be safe during the shipment. Besides checking the costs of sending it back, I have to double, triple, zillion check the correct size I want to resize - which is super stressful man. Not only that, I also need to look for other options to resize my ring because it is too costly and risky to send it to US to do it.

Plowing through Google, I  finally found my solution and I hope to share it with those who needs to resize their rings. The master, Mr Yeung and his wife are always in their shop, they came to Singapore because they wanted their son to study in Singapore. Besides resizing services, they have a few beautiful rings, necklaces and pendants for sale. Many uncles and aunties will bring their diamonds and jades for them to make into rings and necklaces.

Things to know:

1) Polishing services = $10
2) Resizing of ring = $30
3) Time needed to resize 30-50 minutes depending on your request.
4) Most of the jewelry shops (especially those in Orchard area) actually bring the rings to Mr Yeung for resizing. By going to their shop directly, you are just paying for the resizing service. But if you choose to go town simply because it seems more atas or reliable to do there, you are so wrong!  They probably charge you $60 and the $30 is then used to pay these shops for taking the trouble to go down to Mr Yeung to resize. PLUS when you resize the ring yourself, halfway through Mr Yeung will ask you to try the ring size to see if it is the desirable size you want. You definitely can't do that if you ask other shops to do your resizing.
5) If you fancy a Cartier or other big brand name rings but do not have the finance to do so, go print the design you like and Mr Yeung can do the exact same ring at a fraction of the price.
6) *** Please call to check if Mr Yeung is at the shop before calling. Can be quite annoying when you have to waste time waiting for him because you assumed he is always at the shop.

Actually for my case, I thought it wasn't the excellent job done because there were still marks left in the inner part of the ring. Had to go back to ask Mr Yeung to polish and smooth out the unsightly marks. He was quite annoyed because he told me it was fine to have those marks rather than to polish because by doing so the ring will not be "thick" as before. But I still insist on him removing the marks la.

Anyway... I will still recommend him because I think the workmanship is quite good la and considering the amount you can save, why not do it there?

Free polishing of another ring.

This was given to me during Valentine's Day when we were 21? Mr Yeung was very nice, he took out the diamond and gave it a good polish and put it back. Now the ring looks as good as new!

  10. Thank you so much for your post! I went there today and the owners are definitely awesome! I went thereto resize my ring for $50! Definitely happy. However, while I was there, I fell in love with one of their diamond rings. I was just wondering, does anyone know whether they are truly real? I mean no disrespect, but it's quite hard to believe that a 1.2 carat ring cost $1800....can anyone advice?
